Melbourne Road Intersection Upgrade is a project that was completed for Hobsons Bay City Council. These works took place at the busy intersection of Melbourne Road and Perry Street, Williamstown.
This intersection is a main thoroughfare for pedestrians accessing central Williamstown and Dennis Reserve (park featuring lawn bowls, tennis courts and walking track) from local schools and railway station.
The main feature of this intersection upgrade is a newly constructed raised pavement. This assists with slowing of traffic for the pedestrian crossing making the intersection safer overall.
Merlo Civil's Scope:
Upgrade stormwater reticulation (300mm and 225mm diameter pipes and Stormwater Pits)
Excavation, handling and disposal of contaminated material
Concrete Kerb and Concrete Paving
Road Pavements (including asphalt, raised pavements and FCR works)
Line marking, Signage and Tactiles
Barnes Road, Altona Road Rehabilitation was a project completed on behalf of Hobsons Bay City Council. The works involved replacing existing damaged kerb that was holding water. Merlo Civil helped in the implementation of lifting the kerb to aid in stormwater float.
This road rehabilitation was located adjacent to a live gas transmission main. In conjunction with Council, Merlo Civil was able modify required construction methodologies and road design to mitigate risks relating to the authority's asset.

Skewes & Ridley Pram Crossing and Doyle Street Vehicle Crossing was completed for Moonee Valley City Council. These works are to improve pedestrian and vehicle accessibility for all stakeholders.

Road Pavements
Douglas Parade, Newport Road Works were completed on behalf of Hobsons Bay City Council. The project ran from North Road to Bunbury Street along Douglas Parade.
With the project being of sizeable scope, Merlo Civil was able to work collaboratively with Council to work through multiple challenges with existing services, several traffic interfaces and contaminated soil. These works are to improve stormwater capacity and create a more accessible road for residents and alike.

Upgrade stormwater reticulation (675mm dia. pipes being the largest drainage line and up to 1500x900 pits)

Rayner Street Road Reconstruction was completed for Hobsons Bay City Council. These works were to improve stormwater capacity and rectifying concrete and road pavements.
